a.i.r.: (AIRPORT INFORMATION RELAY)
Jurors were impressed by the pure utility of a big, wearable, flashing alert button.
With this proposed system, a traveler could ask for an a.i.r. medallion, programmed with his flight details, at check-in. If that information changes, then the medallion vibrates. And if the traveler needs help, he pushes the button to activate a radio signal and LEDs so airport employees can find him. At the gate, the traveler hands in the medallion.
The jurors chose to ignore the no-design design of the actual object, as they felt this device would make travel dramatically easier for young or elderly travelers with hearing and sight problems, mobility loss, or dementia.
